Highgate Lodge House

Contemporary Scottish Lodge house situated on the west coast, for parties of up to 16 people

Highgate Lodge House is a beautiful traditional style house, situated within the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National park, on the Shore Road in Blairmore village. It has a view over Blairmore’s pretty, restored pier and open views over Loch Long and the firth of Clyde. It stands in just under 1 acre of walled grounds that formerly belonged to Blairmore House. The upper tree covered parts of the garden reveal a slate stepping stone path, circling up around a waterfall – ideal for a peaceful retreat or for exploring. A Finnish BBQ Hut has been added near the waterfall and trees and means that a BBQ can be enjoyed regardless of the weather. To the rear of the house there is a large patio area with outdoor furniture and a party sized BBQ. Over a bridge lies a large lawned area with robust swings for all age groups and space for playing boules and a garden bench for just sitting and soaking up the views. There is also seating in the front garden for catching the sun and listening to the birds and the stream running by.

A short distance along the road there is access to the foreshore in front of the house. Forest walks are available in nearby Ardentinny (which also has a beach), Kilmun Arboretum, the Benmore Gardens and Puck’s Glen. The pier offers the opportunity of sea fishing , and boats can be hired in Lochgoilhead in the Summer. Nearby Loch Eck provides walking paths and the opportunity to hire small boats on an inland loch for pleasure or fishing if permits are obtained. The Arrochar alps are visible from the front garden and the Ardgarten park is a 45 minute drive, offering opportunities for walking, climbing and mountain biking. Quadmania in Blairmore offers a range of outdoor activities in addition to quad-biking. See the Links in the Location pages for links to these and other things to do.

The village has a café gallery serving delicious fresh homemade soups and scones. The nearest pub is in Strone about 1 mile away. Dunoon is a 15 minute scenic drive along the Holy Loch and has a wide variety of shops, a small cinema, restaurants and 2 supermmarkets.
